When you change some of your attributes you will then see a new number beside your current level. If you look above the attribute section you will see an area marking out how many souls you currently have, how many Souls are required to level up, and your current level. When changed the number will appear blue, and the changes that it makes will appear on the right side of the screen in the same color.
